I am confused why Americans turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the ongoing corruption and incompetence in the federal government.

It seems that anyone who opposes the never-ending increases in taxes and continued growth of ineffective government has to be Republican.

What a nonsensical belief. Who doesn’t oppose increases in taxes and ineffective government? How did we as reasonable and responsible Americans allow corruption and incompetence to become so blatant?

In the various media, I read and hear Americans state they feel too small and powerless to hold those entrusted accountable. Somehow, in these chaotic and confusing times, we have lost our bearings; we don’t seem able to do the right thing. It doesn’t feel like we’re doing the right thing anymore. We don’t seem to have the government working for us, doing the right thing. Perhaps we shouldn’t try to do so many things.

Sacrificing long-held values and principles, we are increasingly becoming concerned and preoccupied solely about “What’s in it for me?” Is it too simplistic to adopt the philosophy to do the right things, the right way?

In our complex society, as important as competence is, we also need to associate with individuals of authentic leadership rather than to political parties. Do we really feel that good when we label ourselves a Democrat or Republican? Someone tell me the benefits of this. Do you know anyone who doesn’t want America to be the best? Until we become more responsible, there is no reason for government to be.
