1911 – 2004

LEWISTON – Albert J. Lavoie, 92, of 102 Campus Ave., Lewiston died peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at d’Youville Pavilion.

He was born in Quebec City, P.Q., on April 18, 1911, the son of Ferdinand and Ernestine (Martel) Lavoie and had been a resident of this community since 1959.

He was employed for 30 years as a weaver in the Continental Mill, then was employed in the shoe industry retiring from Geiser Roth in 1976.

He was a member of La Ranconte and Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus.

Mr. Lavoie was a perfectionist by nature which made him a tremendous handyman because everything he did had to be perfect especially when he painted.

He loved listening to music and was also an avid outdoorsman.

He will be missed by his wife, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years the former Florence Bergeron whom he married on Aug. 20, 1938; four sons, Normand Lavoie of Lewiston, Gil Lavoie and his wife Stella of Manchester, N.H., Donald Lavoie and his wife Ann of Lewiston and Rene Lavoie and his girlfriend Claudette Dionne of Lewiston; three daughters, Denise Leger and her husband Gerry of Sabattus, Elize Pelletier and her husband Charles of Lewiston and Claudette Lacombe and her husband Robert of Sabattus; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Michael Leger; and many brothers and sisters.
