1921 – 2004
LEWISTON – Beverly Anita Durant, 82, widow of John H. Durant, of Star Route, Rumford Center, died Monday, Jan. 5, at d’Youville Pavilion where she has resided for the past 18 months.
Born in Old Town, March 15, 1921, the daughter of Guy and Barbara Annabelle Gould Hanscom, she was raised by her foster mother, Louise M. Spencer of Auburn.
She gradated from Edward Little High School in the Class of 1939. A resident of the greater Rumford area since 1945, she was of the First Baptist Church and had been employed for many years at R.C. Jewelers in Rumford. Her family was her hobby, especially her great great-granddaughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna and her husband, Joseph LeBlanc of Peru; two sons, Richard K. Dow of Portland and Michael and his wife, Carol of New Portland; a brother, Lawrence V. Hanscom of Bangor; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Rosaire LaFountaine of Lewiston.
