LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon series on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at L-A College will feature Douglas Hodgkin presenting “A Place to Meet: A History of Lewiston Grange No. 2.”

Hodgkin, a Lewiston native and retired professor of political science at Bates College, serves on the Lewiston Historic Preservation Review Board.

His comments will encompass the history of the Maine Grange movement with emphasis on Lewiston Grange No. 2.

The program will be held at noon in the Community Room at L-A College on Westminster Street. The cost is $5, which includes a lunch, and is open to everyone. Call 753-6510 by Monday, Jan. 12, for reservations.

Club discussion

AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the Woman’s Literary Union, 19 Elm St. Marguerite Powers will discuss “Remembering Eleanor Roosevelt.”

Members are asked to share a story, a tidbit, an event or a great moment in her life. Hostesses will be Louise Twaddle, chairwoman, Claire Roger Anctil, Joni Ramsey and Helen Archambault.

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve, part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will hold its alternate registration date for the Jan. 31 Distribution Day from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance. AUBURN – American Legion Post 31 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the post home, 426 Washington St. The agenda will include a membership update and final plans for the reception for South Paris home veterans on Jan. 31 at the post home.

WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 13, when members will celebrate Snow Queens Night and will honor the line officers. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Seniors lunch

MECHANIC FALLS – The First Congregational Church of Mechanic Falls will host a free luncheon for seniors at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the church.

Guest speakers from Pinetree Retirement Planning in Auburn will share information about the recent changes in Medicare and they will explain the numerous low-priced prescription drug programs that are available. Call 998-2580 to make reservations. The snow date will be Jan. 21.
