OXFORD – SAD 17 directors have approved a 2.1 percent pay raise for Superintendent Mark Eastman. The increase brings Eastman’s salary to about $98,000.
On Dec. 16, the board voted to give Eastman a 1-year contract extension, which will take him into 2008.
The board, which met Monday, also voted to readmit two Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Students and expel another student.
Eastman said those readmitted were originally expelled for violation of the school’s substance abuse policy. He said to get back into school they have presented a readmission plan and that the principal will monitor.
The expulsion on Monday was for a student being deliberately disobedient and exhibiting disorderly behavior.
In other business, the board approved the Otisfield Elementary School’s acceptance of a $1,000 donation from Kenneth and Polly Bartow of Otisfield.
It also approved a gift of a color laser jet printer given to the Hebron Station School by Doreen Burnham of Hebron.
Eastman said he expected to have a report at the Jan. 20 meeting about the Wilderness Leadership group’s trip to Evans Notch, where eight students and two adults had to spend an extra night camping in a blizzard.
The group had to change its route and members’ cell phones didn’t work. The group was due to return Sunday but didn’t came out of the forested area until Monday morning, after the Warden Service had mounted a search.
Eastman also said he expected to have a report and possible plan of action on the crowded second grade at the Waterford Memorial Elementary School.
