NORWAY – The regular meeting of the Norway Paris Solid Waste Board of Directors has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, in the small conference room at the Town Office. A meeting will not be held on Monday, Jan. 19, out of respect for Dr. Martin Luther King.

2004 campaign

BRYANT POND – Randy Bumps, executive director of the Bush-Cheney 2004 Campaign in Maine, will speak at the Oxford County Republican Committee meeting. The evening will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Franklin Grange Hall, 124 Main St. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting. Reports on the Lincoln Day dinner in February, candidate recruitment, fund-raising and campaign strategies will be discussed. All Oxford County Republicans and interested citizens are invited to attend.

Dance scheduled

WELCHVILLE – A dance featuring the Country Ladds band will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Emugene Staples Hall, Route 121. In the event of a storm, people can call 743-8287 or 539-4813 about any possible cancellation. It’s sponsored by the Oxford Fire and Auxiliary Corporation.

PARIS – Art Moves Dance Project will present “Kicks Off & Kicks High” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, Route 26. The project includes Art Moves Dance Company, the Maine Dance Project, Art Moves Dance Group and Art Moves Into the Schools. Tickets are available at Pick-A-Lily, Main Street, Norway and Books ‘N Things, Oxford Shopping Plaza.

Christian group

PARIS – Christian Women United will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the First Congregational Church on Lower Main Street in South Paris. Music will be presented by Elaine Emery of West Paris. Those who have not been contacted, but would like a reservation can call Pearl Anderson at 743-5724.

Greenhouse visit

PARIS – The McLaughlin Foundation Garden and Horticultural Center staff is inviting the public to join it for a visit to the greenhouses of Woodsprite Orchids in New Gloucester. The proprietors have more than 30-years experience with the flowers, according to Lee Dassler of the foundation. Following the visit, there will be lunch at a mystery spot. Lunch and transportation to and from South Paris are include in the $25 fee. Preregistration is required. People can call 743-8820 for the date and more information.
