SOUTH PARIS – Arletta H. Clark, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Market Square Nursing Home. She was formerly of Dixfield and Carthage.
Born in Weld, March 24, 1924, the daughter of Leo and Thelma (Hutchinson) Houghton, she attended Dixfield schools.
She worked as a CNA at the Dixfield Nursing Home and the Rumford Community Hospital.
She was a member of the Robert Shand Post 1641 VFW, Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion and Le Paresseux Snowshoe Club. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and dancing.
She was married in Mexico, on Nov. 30, 1940, to Josiah Clark, who died in Rumford on Feb. 24, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Arnold “Butch” Clark and his wife, Vicki of Rumford; three daughters, Elaine Hutchinson of Carthage, Christine Clark of Peru and Susan Clark-Ryder and her husband, Greg of Peru; brothers, Emerald Houghton and his wife, Betty of Carthage, Kermit Houghton and his wife, Emily of Dixfield, Lawrence Houghton of Carthage, Donald Houghton of Carthage and Charles Houghton and his wife, Frances of Carthage; sisters, June Turner of Carthage, Corliss Kemeraitis of Rumford and Leola Poirier and her husband, Robert of Connecticut; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Leroy and Conrid Houghton; a grandson, Richard Whittemore; and a great-grandson, Koby.
