1918 – 2004
NORTH JAY – Edna M. Wright, 85, of Morse Hill Road, North Jay, died peacefully at her home Wednesday, Jan. 7.
Born in Assonet, Mass., May 8, 1918, the daughter of Lester and Edna Rodecker Davis, she was educated in the Wilton schools.
On July 6, 1935, she married Leroy Wright and they made their home on Morse Hill Road in North Jay and raised four children. “Roy” passed away on June 15, 1999.
She worked in local shoe shops of Livermore Falls and Farmington, retiring in 1982. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and also the Boston Bruins hockey team. She loved sports and watching the local high school football teams. She also enjoyed the ocean, camping, traveling, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly LaPlante of Chesterville and Juanita Black and her husband, Eddie of Jay; two daughters-in-law, Janet Wright of Dryden and Cheryl Wright of Sun City, Fla.; two brothers, Alvin Davis of Livermore Falls and Lester Davis of Jay; a sister, Ruth Sonier of Jay; and 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren ; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 65 years; two sons, Harold in 1998 and Jimmy in 2001; a son-in-law, Alfred LaPlante in 2003; three grandsons, Ronald and Jimmy Black and Ricky Stanley; and four brothers, Merwin, Lloyd, Richard and Cecil Davis.
