LEWISTON – With today’s trade deadline of noon looming, the rumblings around the Lewiston Maineiacs have started to liken themselves to tremors.

According to team officials, there will be a new player in the lineup tonight, while one member of the team will officially be cut.

While officials declined to name the incoming player, they did identify the player on his way out as forward Kevin Talbot.

Talbot had seen minimal playing time with the team since making the roster out of training camp.

In 19 games this season, Talbot had no points, 10 penalty minutes and was a minus-6.

Team officials also hinted that another deal may be in the works, and that may have something to do with the release of 20-year-old forward Nicolas Corbeil, who is playing in the East Coast Hockey League, from the protected list.

Corbeil had not seen action with the team this season, having played in the ECHL.

He is the property of the Chicago Blackhawks, and was a star on the team last season in Sherbrooke.

With Corbeil gone, there is another spot on the protected list for a 20-year-old player, but officials declined to add any more.

As for Vladislav Balaz and Richard Stehlik, both missing from the lineup since the World Junior tournament, both are expected to be in town today.

According to an official, though, the stay for one or both of those players may be limited.
