JAY – Zach Charles buried 16 points to pace Jay to a 64-48 win over MVC rival WInthrop in boys’ basketball action Saturday evening.

The Tigers built a 26-6 lead at the end of the first half and were never seriously challenged the rest of the way. Brad Loon added 14 points and Leigh Trask chipped in with 12 points in the win.

The Ramblers were led by Ian McCarty with 14 points while Joey Burnham chipped in with 12.

Greely 47, Poland 36

POLAND – Jon Alley scored 14 points to lead Greely to a 47-36 win over Poland in WMC basketball action Saturday evening.

The Rams (5-6) built a commanding 25-15 lead at the end of the first half and then withstood a furious rally by Poland to register the win.

The Knights (4-7) were led by Alex Smith with a game-high 16 points.

Telstar 75, Lisbon 56

LISBON- Sean Caddigan poured in 21 points to to lift Telstar to a 75-56 win over Lisbon Saturday afternoon.

Cardigan also tallied four 3-pointers toward the win for the Rebels (8-2).

The Greyhounds’ (5-5) Jared Martin dominated the paint with a game-high 22 points and three 3-pointers for the effort.

Georges Valley 59, Mt. Abram 41

SALEM- A.J. Staples led Georges Valley with a game-high 18 points as the Bucs beat Mt. Abram 59-41 Saturday in high school hoops action.

David Logas chipped in with 12 points for the Bucs (9-1).

The Roadrunners (3-7) were paced by Frank Hayes who scored 12 points

Elan 83, Eastgate 36

LEWISTON- Angel Alberto dunked 16 points to lift Elan to an 83-36 victory over Eastgate Christian Academy Saturday.

Alberto also had seven rebounds. Ben Dryer added 14 points for the win.

Nick Starberd netted 14 points for the Eagles (2-7). Adam Anderson poured in 10 points as well.

Wiscassett 59, Livermore Falls 56

LIVERMORE FALLS- Conrad Griffin dominated the boards and paint with his 23 points as he led Wiscasset to a narrow 59-56 defeat over Livermore Falls Saturday afternoon.

Matt Hinkeley chipped in with 10 points for the Redskins (5-5).

Mike Chemand drained 16 points for the Andies (1-8) Garrette Young and Brad Bryant each added 14 points. Bryant hauled down eight rebounds.

Lincoln Academy 60, Oak Hill 53

WALES- Derik Verney drained 17 points to direct Lincoln Academy to a 60-53 win over Oak Hill Saturday afternoon.

Patrick Howell also added 15 points for the Eagles (4-5).

The Raiders (0-9) were paced by Adam Labby and Troy Tracey who each tallied 13 and 10 points respectively.

Hyde 44, Gould 32

BETHEL – Rob Moore led the way with five 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 20 points as Hyde (3-0) beat Gould 44-32 in a boys’ basketball match up Saturday night.

Gould’s (3-3) T.J. Savage scored a team-high 13 points.

Dirigo 51, Monmouth 33

DIRIGO – Dirigo’s Brandon Berry and Craig Langerman scored 13 points each as the Cougars pounded Monmouth 51-33 in boys’ basketball action.

Monmouth (2-8) was led by Mark Wade who scored a team-high nine points in the contest. Jon Pineau also added 10 for Dirigo (2-8) and Lanerman also had 14 rebounds.

Hockey

Fryeburg 9, Winthrop/Hall-Dale 5

FRYEBURG – Fryeburg Academy was led by Nick Lawrence and Jordan DeLong who netted three goals each as the Raiders beat Winthrop 9-5 in an ice hockey matchup Saturday night.

Winthrop’s (2-5) Sam Frost and Nate Frechette scored a goal and had an assist each. Kris Charlong also added two goals and two assists for Fryeburg (7-0).

Lewiston 1, Bangor 0

BANGOR – Lewiston’s Jason Dube netted the game’s only goal as the Blue Devils shutout the Rams 1-0 in varsity ice hockey action Saturday night.

Nick Langlain stopped 31 Bangor shots for the shutout.

Girls’ basketball

Kents Hill 47, Buckfield 28

KENTS HILL- Alleigh Mills dropped in a game-high 22 points, hauled down 16 rebounds and made three steals to propel Kents Hill to a 47-28 win over Buckfield in girls’ basketball Saturday afternoon.

Jackie Gershmann-Mannocchi tallied 10 points on behalf of the undefeated Huskies.

The Bucks’ (0-9) Desiree Brackett and Melissa Hunefield each poured in 11 points.
