The annual town meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Leavitt Area High School. The election of local officials will be held Friday, April 2, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Town Office.
There are two three-year openings on the Board of Selectmen, one three-year term on the SAD 52 Board of Directors and three three-year positions on the Budget Committee.
Nomination papers are available and must be returned to the Town Office by Feb. 17. Papers must contain the signatures of 25 registered voters, so Town Clerk Eva Leavitt recommends that at least 30 signatures be collected. For further information contact Leavitt at 225-3414.

Positions open
for March election
Nomination papers remain available for several elected positions. Candidates may consider three seats on the Board of Selectmen, one on the School Committee, and one on the Sanitary Commission. The road commissioner position also is up for election.
Eight people have picked up nomination papers expressing an interest in running for selectman. None has returned the papers to the town. Town Clerk Suzanne Reading did not identify them.
Nominations papers must be returned to the Town Office by Jan. 20. The election will be held March 5. Sabattus will have a five-member Board of Selectmen after the election. Currently, three selectmen govern the town.

Leeds:
Contract with Turner signed
Selectmen approved a contract with the town of Turner Wednesday night for rescue services. Town Administrator Jane Wheeler said the new contract is a first between the neighboring towns, but Turner has provided the service with a verbal agreement for several years.
