1910 – 2004
AUGUSTA – Inez Ruth Brann, 93, of Coopers Mills, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, at Maine General Medical Center.
She was born in Whitefield, on April 7, 1910, a daughter of Adelbert and Inez (Cookson) Sproul.
In her earlier years, she was President of the World War I Auxiliary. She loved her family and friends and hosted family gatherings as long as she was able. She loved flowers and gardening and could be seen outside throughout the year.
“Gram” as she was known in her later years loved being a grandmother. She knitted mittens and made cookies for all of the village kids. She was happiest giving to others. Although she will be missed, her spirit will live within all of the lives that she touched.
She is survived by her children, Delbert F. Brann and his wife, Martha of South China, Freeman W. Brann and his wife, Joyce of Houston, Texas, Austin J. Brann Sr., and his wife Marti of Vassalboro, Nina Aho and her husband, Bruno of Union, Marcia Farrington of South China, Frances Gould and her husband, Donald of Whitefield and Betty Crocker of Windsor; her sisters, Ursula Pimental of Jamestown, R.I., Madelyn York and a special brother-in-law, Carroll York of Windsor and Ernestine Sproul of Windsor; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; and several much loved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Delbert F. Brann Sr. who died on Jan. 3, 1974; her brothers, James, Alvas, Arnold; her sisters, Norma Sproul Robbins and Eleanor Sproul; one grandson, Timothy Farrington; two great-grandsons, Mark and Donald Russell; and by a brother-in-law, Armit Robbins.
