How to get a card
There are no fees to get a “Maine Rx Plus” card, nor are taxpayers paying for the discounts. The discounts come are a result of the state offering drug makers more business in exchange for lower prices.
Not all drugs and brand names will be discounted, only those on the state’s MaineCare preferred list. Prescriptions on that list are considered effective and the best prices.
For people enrolled in the Drugs to the Elderly program, their new Maine Rx Plus card will replace their DEL card. To receive a Maine Rx Plus card application call toll-free: 1-866-796-2463 and ask for one to be mailed. Or visit the Maine Department of Human Services at www.maine.gov/dhs.
