CANTON – Selectman Susan Gammon expressed the board’s gratitude Wednesday night for the many donations that have come to the town since the December flood.
A letter of thanks will be mailed to each donor.
Maine Sen. Bruce Bryant, D-Dixfield, attended the meeting to thank the board for its work during the flood. He also brought checks totaling $260 for disaster relief.
Richard Marble, assistant code enforcement officer, presented the board with several options for dealing with Edward Libby, who is in violation of the state junkyard ordinance. If the premises are not cleaned up by Jan. 29 the town will start proceedings to place a lien on the property and start clearing it of junk.
The town is searching for a code enforcement officer, and those interested may contact the town office for more information.
The board scheduled a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26 in the Town Hall to discuss the fire station grant, flood mitigation grant, Community Development Block Grant, the Comprehensive Plan and the Pine Tree Zone.
There will be a town meeting at 9 a.m. Feb. 7 to vote on the grants.
Elected to the CDBG Committee were Mark Blanchette, Wayne Dube, Ron Ray, Rick Ray, Becky McDonald, Sue Gammon and Jackie Conant.
The Board of Selectmen voted to adopt the Pine Tree Municipal Resolution. They also voted to submit descriptions of property to be included as a subzone within the Androscoggin Valley region application and to designate the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments to submit an application on behalf of all the communities involved and act as administrator of operations of the Zone.
