Lewiston – SeniorsPlus is seeking volunteers to help seniors with rides, errands and grocery shopping.

Many senior citizens in the area do not have the supports in place to remain independent, says the agency in asking people to consider volunteering. The goal of SeniorsPlus is to offer programs to help seniors remain independent and in their own homes.

The agency welcomes donation of time in any amount a person can give. People who live in Androscoggin, Franklin or Oxford counties and are interested in volunteering are being asked to contact SeniorsPlus at (207) 795-4010 or 1-800-427-1841. Ask for the volunteer coordinator or program coordinator.

SeniorsPlus is the designated area on aging for these three counties. The agency is private, nonprofit and supported by funds from the Department of Human Services, The Bureau of Elder and Adult Services, and area United Way agencies, local municipalities and private donors. More information about SeniorsPlus can be found on the Internet at www.seniorsplus.org.
