FARMINGTON – Firefighters evacuated Bob’s Discount Sunday after a strong odor was reported.

About eight firefighters responded to the call.

Assistant fire rescue Chief Tim Hardy, first on the scene, said the odor smelled like a fluorescent light component burning. The store was cleared briefly of the few customers that remained as a precaution, Hardy said.

Some had already left, he added.

Firefighters were on the scene for about 45 minutes, he said, before returning to the station.
