NEW YORK – Rookie center Carl Corazzini scored his first two NHL goals Tuesday night to lead the Boston Bruins to a 4-1 victory over the New York Rangers.

Boston went ahead 1-0 on Corazzini’s first goal. With New York on the power play, the puck eluded Rangers defenseman Lawrence Nycholat at the left point and Ted Donato raced down the ice on a two-man breakaway with Corazzini.

Donato sent a pass to Corazzini, who crossed the Rangers blue line and wristed a shot past goalie Mike Dunham.

Boston took a 2-0 lead at 17:34 of the second period on Jiri Slegr’s fourth goal.

Brian Rolston skated out of the left circle and slid the puck across the crease. Slegr joined the fray and chipped the puck past Dunham.

The Bruins swept the home-and-home series from New York, that started Monday in Boston, by outscoring the Rangers 9-3.

New York pulled within 2-1 Tuesday 1:21 into the third period on Brian Leetch’s eighth goal. With the Rangers on a power play, Leetch blasted a slap shot from the high slot past Andrew Raycroft.

Boston took a 3-1 lead at 4:33 on Rolston’s 14th goal. With Boston on a two-man advantage, Rolston’s hard slap shot from the top of the right circle beat Dunham cleanly.

Notes: Rangers D Tom Poti was scratched due to back spasms. … Boston captain Joe Thornton was scratched after breaking his cheekbone Monday during a fight with Rangers C Eric Lindros.

… The Rangers placed D Darius Kasparaitis on injured reserve because of a broken bone in his leg and a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Kasparaitis was also injured in Monday’s game when he was kneed by Boston D Dan McGillis. Kasparaitis is expected to be out 10 to 12 weeks. … Bruins forward Doug Doull served his one-game suspension for charging Rangers forward Petr Nedved on Monday.
