1943 – 2004
LITCHFIELD – Ralph Raymond Little III, 60, died at home unexpectedly, Jan 18. He was a longtime resident of Bailey’s Island.
He was born in North Canaan, Conn., Sept. 26, 1943, the son of Irene Fuller Davidson and Ralph R. Little Jr. He was educated In Sheffield, Mass., schools. He worked for many years as a commercial fisherman and also as a rigger at Bath Iron Works after serving in the USN from 1961 to 1969.
He was a Vietnam veteran serving aboard the USS Enterprise under the title AO2 until his discharge and subsequent enlistment in the USCG Reserves until 1975. He was a member of the United Lodge AF&AM 8 Brunswick.
He is survived by his mother, Irene Fuller Davidson of Massachusetts; daughters, Melissa Little and fiancée’ Raymond Williams of Turner, Carrie Hardy and husband Rick II of Auburn, Jennifer Hardy and husband Richard of Auburn; brothers, Barry Davidson of Massachusetts, Gordon Davidson of New Hampshire, Robert Little of New York; sisters, Patricia Sherman of Massachusetts, Gail Bassett of New York; ex-wife, Joanne Little of Auburn; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Jr.; stepmother, Ruth Little; his stepfather, Gordon Davidson; and sister, Sue Lawrenson.
