NEW LONDON, Conn. – T. J. McLeod torched the nets for a game-high 23 points, including three 3-pointers, as Bowdoin beat Connecticut College 86-78 in overtime Friday evening.

The Polar Bears (9-7) used a 16-8 run in the extra stanza to secure the win.

Kyle Pelletier added 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Jon Farmer (17 points), Mark Yakavonis (13 points) and Kevin Bradley (12 points) rounded out the leading scorers for Bowdoin.

Malik Brown paced the Camels with 17 points.

Wesleyan 83, Colby 70

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Kaela Mills drained a game-high 31 points, including 13-of-14 from the free-throw line, to lead Wesleyan to an 83-70 win over Colby.

The Cardinals used a 47-35 advantage in the second half to secure the victory. Kanem Johnson and Robert Kelly chipped in with 18 and 16 points, respectively.

Pat McGowan led the White Mules with 22 points.

Men’s hockey

Colby 5, Tufts 2

WATERVILLE – Nick Bayley scored a pair of goalls and Cory Ernst chipped in three assists to lead Colby to a 5-2 win over Tufts in men’s hockey action.

Ross McMillan scored the first goal at 10:02 of the first period, converting a feed from Ernst for the White Mules. Nate Stanglein and Patrick Walsh rounded out the scoring as Colby notched its eighth win of the season.

USM 8, Babson 5

GORHAM – Southern Maine took a 4-1 lead after one period, and James LeBlanc followed with two goals to cement an 8-5 win over Babson.

Matt Collaton made 38 saves for the Huskies (7-9).

Women’s basketball

Wesleyan 45, Colby 41

WATERVILLE – Hannah Stubbs had 17 points and seven rebounds to lift Wesleyan to a 45-41 NESCAC women’s basketball victory over Colby.

The White Mules (8-9) led 23-19 at the half, but the Cardinals (13-1) answered after the break. Billi Blanchard led Colby with eight points.

Bowdoin 64,

Connecticut College 42

BRUNSWICK – Sophomore Vanessa Russell scored a career-high 16 points to lift unbeaten Bowdoin to a 64-42 win over Connecticut College.

The Polar Bears (15-0) closed the door in the first minutes of the second half with a 12-1 run.

Women’s hockey

Maine 2, UConn 0

ORONO – Triston Desmet converted a pass from Cheryl White and Emily Stevens at 8:49 of the second period to lead the Maine past Connecticut 2-0 in women’s hockey.

The Black Bears (8-9-3) scored an insurance goal in the third period as Desmet again scored courtesy of Megan Aarts and Karen Droog. Lara Smart made 30 saves to register the shutout.

Bowdoin 6,

Connecticut College 0

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Marissa O’Neil scored an unassisted goal and set up another score by Jess Burke to push fifth-ranked Bowdoin to a 6-0 win over Connecticut College.

Katie Forney, Kelsey Wilcox and Britney Carr each scored in the first period for the Polar Bears (9-3-1).
