FARMINGTON – A meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Daughters Chapter, will be held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the home of Joy Gilbank. A brown bag lunch meeting will be held at noon.

Rebekah meeting

LIVERMORE – Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls will meet Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Ralph Wright Memorial Building, 284 Federal Road. Refreshments will be served before the meeting at 12:30 p.m. by Norma Lucarelli and Marge Pritsky. The meeting will follow at 1:30 p.m. during which a memorial service will be held for two recently deceased members, Carolyn Dunmore and Della Wheeler. This will also be Mother Hubbard Day with Mother Hubbard Hilda Corkum in charge of the program. Members are asked to take items for the local food cupboard and to pack a pound of anything in a brown paper bag for an auction.

Noon concerts

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Fiddlers under the direction of Steve Muise will be the first presenters in the noontime concert series when they perform from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington. The concert series will be held Wednesdays except during school vacation weeks. Later in the semester, the series will include a program of Gregorian chants, soprano Kate Reid, two folk music sessions, Mississippi Delta blues, a brass quintet, classical guitar, two solo piano recitals, and the Mount Blue Voices. Sam Sytsma will sing and play the harpsichord on Feb. 4 for the next noontime concert. The concerts are sponsored by the Arts Institute. Although the concerts are free, donations are welcome. January luncheon

FARMINGTON – A January community luncheon will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street. The menu includes beef stew with biscuits, cole slaw, beverage and cake. All are welcome. The meals are offered at no charge to members of the community. French classes

PHILLIPS – Carmen Glidden will teach Creative French for SAD 58 Adult and Community Education. Classes start from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, for students from Rangeley, Stratton and Kingfield. The location will be announced. The classes will continue every Tuesday until April 13, a total of 10 weeks. Classes are geared to those who have attended her classes already or to those who may have had some French in the past and want to upgrade their knowledge. Classes for students from Phillips, Strong, Kingfield and Farmington will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays starting Feb. 4 at the Phillips Elementary School. Last class will end on Wednesday, April 14. Classes cost $70 per person plus books. Registration is immediate by phoning the Adult Education Office in Phillips or phoning 639-2068, ext. 297.
