LIVERMORE FALLS – The library was closed Saturday so carpets could be cleaned after a heating pipe broke the week before. Officials are assessing damage done by water that seeped into carpets and the walls downstairs.

The pipe broke in the west wing of the Treat Memorial Library in the back of the children’s section, Town Manager Alan Gove said.

Gove said he expects a report Wednesday assessing the damage and a plan of action.

The town’s property and casualty insurance has a $1,000 deductible, he said, so the town would need to pay the first $1,000 of the damage.
