LIVERMORE FALLS – The assessor’s office will begin a home re-inspection process this winter, Town Manager Alan Gove announced last week.

The area to be inspected will be the in-town residential areas just south of the Jay town line. Generally the process will take about a half hour, he said.

Working on the project will be Kevin Geaghan and Jacob Van Tuinen, employees of William VanTuinen, the town’s professional assessor.

Gove said the purpose of the re-inspection is to make sure tax records are up to date and accurate.

The goal is to inspect about a quarter of the developed properties in Livermore Falls this year and the same amount in each of the next three years.

Maine law states a town should perform a physical inspection and inventory of every real property account at least every four years, Gove says.

He noted that individual valuation changes may result from this process if a property has been improved or deteriorated since the last inspection.

Gove also announced that the Downtown Forum originally planned for Feb. 2 will be held later in the month, after school vacation week.

Lien notices are being processed for sewer charges and taxes that are delinquent. Gove advises those on the list to make timely payment so their property won’t be lost.

Dog owners also need to register their dogs before late charges are added, he said.
