JAY – School Superintendent Robert Wall is scheduled Thursday to recommend approval of a $10.8 million spending plan for 2004-2005.

The School Committee’s special meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Middle School cafeteria.

Of the $10.8 million, $10.6 million is proposed to run the education system, a $420,480 or 4 percent increase over the existing budget.

The remaining $213,263 is slated for capital improvements, including $95,000 to install an elevator at the high school to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Wall said he expects to receive an updated cost on installing the elevator for Thursday’s meeting.

School board members plan to meet in executive session to interview three candidates interested in being appointed to fill Jim Durrell’s term until the April town meeting.

Wall said he would recommend that the committee take action on the appointment at its next regular meeting Feb. 5.
