LIVERMORE FALLS – Residents are reminded that late hours at the town office will be held monthly beginning Wednesday, Jan. 28. The office will not open until 11 a.m. Wednesday but will remain open until 6:30 p.m. Those interested in running for the vacant seat on the Board of Selectmen have until town office closing time Wednesday to submit their nomination papers. Kevin Morrissey took out papers last week but had not returned them as of early Tuesday afternoon. Russell Flagg has taken out and returned his papers, according to the clerk.

French classes

PHILLIPS – Carmen Glidden will teach Creative French for SAD 58 Adult and Community Education. Classes start from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, for students from Rangeley, Stratton and Kingfield. The location will be announced. The classes will continue every Tuesday until April 13, a total of 10 weeks. Classes are geared to those who have attended her classes already or to those who may have had some French in the past and want to upgrade their knowledge. Classes for students from Phillips, Strong, Kingfield and Farmington will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays starting Feb. 4 at the Phillips Elementary School. Last class will end on Wednesday, April 14. Classes cost $70 per person plus books. Registration is immediate by phoning the Adult Education Office in Phillips or phoning 639-2068, ext. 297.

January luncheon

FARMINGTON – A January community luncheon will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street. The menu includes beef stew with biscuits, cole slaw, beverage and cake. All are welcome. The meals are offered at no charge to members of the community.
