JAY – Fourth-grade snowmobile racer Kaitlyn Smith returned home from the Winter X-Games Sunday with an eighth-place finish, according to her father.

The games, held over the weekend in Aspen, Colo., will be broadcast this weekend on ESPN.

Kaitlyn, 9, competed in her age group with a field of top snowmobile drivers from the United States and Canada.

She was hampered by mechanical problems throughout the race, said Ken Smith.

Her father said that although Kaitlyn did not win, she had a great time meeting with T.J. Gulla, Tucker Hibbert and several other well-known racers.
