Lewiston’s Caitlin Anthoine hits for 10 points and pulls down six rebounds.
LEWISTON – Caitlin Anthoine deposited 10 points into the net to lift Lewiston to a 62-36 victory over Medomak Valley in a Class A girls’ basketball game Thursday night.
Anthoine also pulled down six rebounds and earned seven assists for the Blue Devils (10-1).
For Medomak Valley, Heather Fogg dropped in a game-high 15 points.
Seacoast 44, Eastgate 40
GRAY – Ainsky Robinson drained 11 points with less than a minute left in the game to break a tie and lift Seacoast to a 44-40 victory over Eastgate Christian Thursday afternoon.
Brittany Waterson solidified the win with another basket for the Guardians (7-4) and Liz Tafton dropped in a game-high 19 points.
For the Eagles (11-5), Angie Elvin and Brittany Leare both scored 13 points a piece, while Hailey Veilleux scored 12 in the third quarter.
Mt. Blue 65, Waterville 25
FARMINGTON – Heather Groder poured in a game-high 17 points to lead Mt. Blue to a 65-25 win over Waterville in KVAC basketball action Thursday evening.
The Cougars (8-5) jumped out to a 14-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and the Panthers (3-10) were unable to recover.
Christina Mosher and Amy Mosher added 13 and 11 points respectivley in the lopsided victory.
Rangeley 73, Richmond 36
RANGELEY- Christine Romero hit for a game-high 18 points to lift Rangeley to a 73-36 win over Richmond Thursday in a girls’ basketball game.
Ashley Mortin and Sebrina Clark each scored 12 points for the Lakers (13-0) while Sarah Shreder was good for 13.
For the Lakers, Amy Coonradt scored nine points.
Bangor 67, Leavitt 62
TURNER – Caroline Weymouth poured in a game-high 26 points as Bangor held off a determined Leavitt team Thursday night with a 67-62 victory.
Laura Clarke (16) and Serena Dubois (12) each found themselves in double figures for Bangor which had its hands full with the winless Hornets.
Leavitt powered its way to a 30-25 halftime lead, and survived a late third-quarter surge from the Rams to enter the fourth period with a slim one-point advantage. The two teams traded buckets for most of the final frame until Bangor capitalized on a Leavitt miss, and Serena Dubois made the point differential three.
This key basket was all the momentum the Rams needed to keep the Hornets from picking up their first win of the season, preventing Leavitt from closing the gap.
Annie Dyer was the leading scorer for Leavitt with 14 points, while Brittany Duncan had 12 and Lindsay Sierra finished with 13.
The disheartening loss extended the Hornets winless streak to 13 games.
Telstar 64, Jay 40
BETHEL- Liz Rosenburg netted a game-high 18 points and as Telstar sped ahead to a 64-40 win over Jay Thursday.
Jillian Kimball followed close behind with 14 points for the Rebels (11-4).
The Tigers’ (11-4) Kaleigh Dimillo drained 16 points and had three 3-pointers. Heather Johnson added 11.
Boys’ basketball
Mountain Valley 62, Wiscasset 60
RUMFORD – Matt McCann drained 13 points and Andy Shorey chipped in with 12 to lead Mountain Valley to its 17th win of the season as the Falcons handed Wiscasset a 62-60 setback in MVC basketball action Thursday evening.
The Redskins were led by Conrad Griffin who poured in a game-high 25 points, including three 3-pointers.
Seacoast 75, Eastgate 63
NEW GLOUCESTER – Andre LaPlante torched the nets for a game-high 29 points to lead Seacoast Christian to a 75-63 win over Eastgate Christian Academy in boys’ basketball action.
Josh Pritchard and Jamie Sharp added 19 and 11 points in the hard-fought win.
Eastgate was led by Nate Damm with 27 points, including four three-point shots. Ezra Damm added 17 and Aaron Anderson chipped in with 12 points.
