FARMINGTON – Selectmen accepted a university agent’s pledge to pay subsidy toward ambulance service with gratitude Tuesday.

University of Maine at Farmington spokesman Roger Spear said the university is willing to pay on a per student basis for those living in residence halls.

The town is faced with a $97,000 subsidy for its share of ambulance service costs for LifeStar Ambulance service, which is owned and operated by Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Spear said he estimated the university’s share would be in the vicinity of $12,000.

In other business, Town Manager Richard Davis said the town would receive $16,800 from Federal Emergency Management Agency to defer costs of overtime during a December storm that dumped 40 inches of snow in Farmington.
