STONY BROOK, NY – Eric Dobson scored a game-high 22 points, and Maine extended Stony Brook’s losing streak to three games with a 71-63 victory Saturday.
Kevin Reed scored 18 points for the Black Bears (12-6, 6-3 America East Conference), who led 26-24 at halftime.
D.J. Munir scored 19 points to lead the Seawolves (6-12, 3-6), who lost for the fifth time in six games.
Mike Popoko finished with 15 points. Munir scored six points as Stony Brook charged to a 13-4 lead at 13:40 of the first half.
The Black Bears countered with four 3-pointers in an 18-8 run and took their first lead at 22-21.
Chris Markwood’s 3-pointer closed out the surge.
Dobson scored six points and Reed added four as Maine opened the second half with a 14-7 run, increasing its lead to 40-31.
Amherst 71, Bates 57
AMHERST, MA – Andrew Schiel scored 13 points to lead Amherst College to a 71-57 win over Bates.
Russell Lee and John Bedford added 12 points as the Lord Jeffs (18-1) built a 42-29 lead at the half. Adam Harper and John Donovan rounded out the scoring with 10 points apiece.
The Bobcats (14-5) were led by Zak Ray with 16 points. Ramon Garcia added 13 points in the setback.
Bowdoin 72, Middlebury 48
BOWDOIN – Kyle Petrie and T.J. McLeod poured in 14 points apiece to lead Bowdoin College to a 72-48 win over Middlebury College.

Western Connecticut 100, USM 82
DANBURY, Conn. – Senior Marvin Evans scored a game-high 26 points to propel Western Connecticut to a 100-82 win over the University of Southern Maine.
USM was paced by junior Jason Levecque, who had 22 points, while sophomore Jesse McKinnell posted his fourth straight double-double with 12 points and the game-high 14 rebounds.
Women’s basketball
Bates 72, Amherst 46
LEWISTON – Olivia Zurek recorded her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 boards to lead Bates College to a 72-46 rout of Amherst.
Lauren Dubois added 15 points for the Bobcats, who jumped out to a 46-14 lead at the intermission.
USM 76, W. Conn. 50
DANBURY, Conn. – Jen Webster scored 23 points to pace the University of Southern Maine to a 76-50 win over Little East Conference foe Western Connecticut State University.
Tiffany Jones and Katie Sibley chipped in with 19 and 12 points, respectively, for the Huskies (18-1).
The Colonials (7-12) were led by Mallory Stevens with 16 points.
Men’s Ice Hockey
USM 9, Conn. College 7
GORHAM – Franco Narcisi netted the hat trick to lead Southern Maine to a 9-7 victory over Connecticut College.
David Moccia socred two goals for the Camels (4-11-1) in the contest.
Mat Kerling and Erik Kent each netted two goals for the Huskies (9-9-1).
