• Jan. 26, 7:30 p.m. – Received an advisory from Oxford County Sheriff’s Office to be on the lookout for a man and a woman who have reportedly been passing fake rolls of quarters to stores, including Millett’s Variety in Norway.

The rolls are actually sand-filled PVC tubes.

The man was described as being about 5 feet tall, with brown hair and a brown mustache. The couple were seen operating an older model, light blue Chevrolet S10 pickup truck with a passenger door of a different color.

An officer notified Bethel stores.

• Jan. 24, 7:22 p.m. – Someone ran over the stop sign at the intersection of Railroad and Main streets. The Maine Department of Transportation was contacted and asked to bring in a portable sign for replacement.

• Jan. 24, 4 p.m. – Two Bethel women reported thefts of $100 a month ago and $80 on Jan. 23. They were advised to fill out and return statement forms.

• Jan. 23, 7:35 a.m. – An Intervale Road resident filed a fraud complaint after reporting that his wife had received a phone call on the night of Jan. 22 from a man claiming to be from Sears. According to the complainant, the caller told his wife that her Sears credit card was overdrawn by $50, and that if she provided him with a check number and the account number, he could resolve the issue.

The man said his wife refused then used Caller ID to learn that the caller’s out-of-state phone number was a dead number. He was advised to contact the Attorney General’s office.

• Jan. 21, 6:15 p.m. – A Paris Road complainant reported seeing a man armed with a rifle, and a dog in front of his residence, but when Bethel and state police arrived, the pair had apparently left the residence and went into the woods. Upon advising the warden service, police learned that no laws had been violated.

Arrests

• Richard Musto, 20, no town listed, on charges of operating after suspension and improper plates, on Jan. 22 following a vehicle stop for loud exhaust on Walkers Mills Road. Musto was taken to Oxford County jail in Paris for booking.
