One student was found “under the influence of marijuana.”

BETHEL – Two Telstar High School students were summoned on marijuana charges Thursday morning following investigations by school staff.

A 17-year-old Woodstock boy was charged with illegal transportation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A 16-year-old Bryant Pond boy was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the police report, an investigation by school staff linked the 17-year-old to having marijuana. Then a subsequent search of his truck by staff reportedly revealed a marijuana pipe and a cigarette package containing five “roaches” and a small amount of processed marijuana.

The police report indicated the younger boy was “found under the influence of marijuana.”

Following a staff search, investigators learned he allegedly had a 35mm film canister, which contained a small amount of marijuana.

Both youths were summoned by Bethel police about 8:30 p.m.

In other police news, David B. Cherkis, 35, no town listed, was arrested on a charge of operating after suspension at 4:15 p.m. Jan. 28 while driving on Vernon Street.

Jaclyn Riendeau, 27, of West Bethel was summoned on two counts of failure to license a dog and two counts of failure to vaccinate a dog, on Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. She is to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. March 2, in Rumford District Court.
