FARMINGTON – The Old South First Congregational Church at 227 Main St. will hold its monthly community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.

The menu includes meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables and brownies.

This event is free and open to the public.

Valentine supper

WILTON – The First Apostolic Church of Wilton/Farmington, routes 2 and 4, announces a public Valentine’s supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, in the fellowship hall of the church. The cost will be $5 for adults and $3 for children age 11 and under.

The Bible Quizzing kids will make up corsages to sell at the function for people to give to their sweethearts to help support their efforts to learning the word of God. The cost will be $5 each. They can be ordered ahead by calling 645-3949.

The church is offering free home Bible studies. If interested in beginning a home Bible study, call 645-4901 or 645-5040.

D of I meeting

JAY – St. Rose Circle 677, Daughters of Isabella, welcomed two new members, Pauline Roy and Julie Crafts, at their January meeting. The charter was draped in memory of past regent, Natalie Gross, and long-time members, Leda Slovak and Grace Clough.

The January social was chaired by Louise Buzzell and Irene Castonguay who were assisted by the January social committee. Rita Crowley won the door prize. The next social will be Wednesday, Feb. 25, and members may invite their husbands for a fun evening.

Penny challenge

WILTON – The Wilton Free Public Library has won a $2,200 MBNA grant to replace 89-year-old furniture in the Children’s Room. Part of the grant was a challenge to raise $200 toward the purchase of the furniture.

The library is challenging all patrons to pay a penny for every minute they read and to place the money in a 6-gallon water jug at the library.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, noon to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 7 Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
