FRYEBURG – The Maine State Candlepin Bowling Association held its annual Senior Mixed Team Championships recently at Saco Valley Sports Center. This was a 4-person event (2 women and 2 men) over the age of 60. Each rolled 5 strings, with handicaps added.
Taking top honors was a team from 1-7-10 Sports Center of Augusta with a total pinfall of 2578, with members Irene Kaherl, Ernie Thurston, Kay Thurlow and Arnie Stebbins.
Coming up 2 pins short and finishing second was the 1-7-10 team of Molly Thompson, Ernie Thompson, Bea Maschino and Walt Maschino. Third place went to Good-Time Lanes of Lisbon Falls, with team members Florence Slattery, Bruce Small, Dolly Small and Carl Slattery with a 2564, followed by Auburn Lanes, with members Jeanett Breton, Bill Corliss, Theresa Landry and Charlie Wallace, 2563.
Next Maine State Senior event is Men’s and Women’s Teams, March 3-4 at 1-7-10. All M.S.C.B.P.A. members over 60 are welcome.
