FARMINGTON – Tunes, activities, healthy food and cake are on tap for Saturday’s Valentine’s Day Dance.

On Tuesday, University of Maine at Farmington Health Club representatives Sara Mulvey and Jenn Berry and Farmington Recreation Department officials Steve Shible and Aaron Keegan were finalizing plans for the chaperoned event for students in grades seven through 12 at the Community Center.

The Someplace Teen Center is presenting the dance from 7 to 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 14.

The dance will be limited to the first 150 students. Admission is $3 per person or $5 a couple. If dance-goers wear red or pink, $1 will be deducted from the admission for each person sporting these theme colors.

The club is providing disc jockeys Scott and Cindy Grassette of Rumford. They not only spin tunes but also bring props for students to participate in fun activities, such as the limbo, Berry said.

The club is also providing water and healthy snacks, including veggie platters.

The recreation department is providing the gym, decorations and a couple of cakes made at Hannaford and some other goodies.

Shible said a couple of food tables would be set up on the bleacher platforms, with all food to be consumed in that area.

Berry said this is the first venture of a collaborative effort to provide healthy activities for students in SAD 9.

Regular teen center activities also will be offered downstairs at no charge.
