RANGELEY – Jim Goodwin scored a game-high 35 points and hauled down 13 rebounds as Rangeley hung on for a 53-51 victory over Gould in a Western Class D boys’ basketball preliminary Wednesday night.

Trailing by six with under two minutes left in the game , the Lakers were able to make some free throws to secure the win.

Rangeley advances to face No. 1 Hyde Saturday afternoon at the Augusta Civic Center.

Brian White pulled down eight rebounds and handed out nine assist in the victory. David Jensen contributed 11 points.

Gould’s offensive attack was led by T.J. Savage with 14 points and Quinn McAllister with 12.

Ice hockey

St. Dom’s 9, Brewer 1

BREWER – Shawn Longley netted four goals and earned two assists to lead St. Dom’s to a 9-1 rout over Brewer in late-season hockey action Wednesday.

Josh Dwinal and Eric Russo chipped in two goals each for the Saints, while Cameron Robichaud’s single goal completed the scoring.

Brady Blackmon made 21 saves in net to notch the win.

Mike Grimes tallied the lone goal for Brewer early in the first period.

Aaron Saunders turned away an impressive 45 shots in net, including 24 in the first period as St. Dom’s started firing like a gattling gun.
