Maine invention carries Stanley Cup

ST. PAUL, MN. – In an unprecedented snowmobile season of little snowfall, RETRAX, a retractable wheel system invented and manufactured in Caribou, Maine, has aided the Stanley Cup Trek.

The Trek covered much of Minnesota, which has received far less than normal snowfall. The Cup traveled across the state aboard a Polaris snowmobile outfitted with the RETRAX retractable wheel system.

Inventor Mike Ouellette expressed his excitement over the chance to carry the prestigious trophy. “We are thrilled to be a part of this historic Stanley Cup Trek,” he said. “We are very proud that RETRAX has provided a benefit for this important journey.”

RETRAX is mounted on the skis of a snowmobile. When lowered with simple lever action, it allows the rider to engage a wheel system to aid in crossing hard surfaces.
