AUBURN – Jessica Newton scored a game-high 20 points as Centrel Maine Community College knocked off Eastern Maine Community College 54-31 in women’s basketball action Thursday.

EMCC had a slow start, scoring 12 points in the first half. Megan Garland also added 12 for CMCC.

AUBURN – Centrel Maine Community College received a game-high 26 points from Chris Brackett to advance in the Yankee Conference tournament with an 89-66 victory over UMaine-Augusta.

Josh Berard nailed four 3-pointers for 16 points while Patrick Dempsey added 14 for CMCC (19-6).

UMA was led by Greg Thibodeau with 25 points and Chris Blodgett had 21. The Moose played with just five players.
