Lexus has thoroughly revised its LS 430 flagship sedan for 2004.

The entire front-end has been redesigned, while the rear is distinguished by a new trunk lid with larger trunk opening, a new bumper and a new light design. A six-speed automatic transmission replaces the five-speed unit, enhancing performance and shifting smoothness. New monotube shock absorbers enhance handling and ride.

New safety features include knee airbags for the driver and front passenger and the Adaptive Front lighting System, which helps illuminate a turn or curve as the driver steers into it. An available new rear backup camera provides an extra margin of safety when reversing the vehicle. A new Tire Pressure Monitor alerts the driver if it detects an under-inflated tire.

New luxury features include rear seat vanity mirrors and rear swivel reading lights. The moonroof and power rear sunshade are now standard. Rear climate-control seats are available as an option on the the Ultra Luxury package. The SmartAccess feature allows the driver to unlock the car by simply touching the door handle.

The DVD-based Lexus Navigation System has been upgraded with new features and integrates Bluetooth wireless technology. XM Satellite Radio capability is a new option. A “Euro-tuned” suspension package with 18-inch wheels is available. Luxury content in the LS 430 includes premium-grade leathers and woods.
