FARMINGTON – Kari Simpson torched the nets for 25 points and hauled down seven rebounds to lead the University of Maine at Farmington to a convincing 83-58 win over Lasell College in women’s basketball action Sunday.

Kate LaHaye and Karen Sirois added 13 and 12 points respectively in the lopsided win.

Lasell was paced by Courtney Casserly with 19 points.

Husson 73, Lesley 44

BANGOR – Annie McIntosh poured in a game-high 21 points and hauled dowm 10 rebounds as Husson College downed Lesley College 73-44 in women’s action Sunday.

The Braves built a 40-21 lead at the end of the first half and never looked back as they cruised to the victory.

Lisa Rehm paced the Lesley attack with 14 points.

Men’s basketball
RIC 77, USM 61

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rhode Island College used an 18-1 run over the final 6 minutes to pull away from the University of Southern Maine for a 77-61 win in men’s basketball action.

Kamran Alemdar paced five players in double figures with a game-high 18 points, Kevin Zalucki added 14 points in the win.

The Huskies (8-15) were led by Jason Levesque with 15 points, Ryan Garland added 13 points, and Caleb Sayward rounded out the scoring with 11 points.

Mt. Ida 82, Thomas 80

WATERVILLE – Scott Chamberlain poured in 24 points to lead Mount Ida College to a thrilling 82-80 win over Thomas College in men’s basketball acton Sunday.

Rich Adam torched the nets for 29 points including five 3-point shots and James Godley chipped in with 20 points in the loss.

Lasell 63, UMF 62

FARMINGTON – Napolean Sandeford drained a team-high 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to pace Lasell College to a 63-62 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in men’s basketball action Sunday.

Lasell held a 32-26 lead at the end of the first half and withstood a furious second-half rally by the Beavers in the second half to pull out the one-point victory.

UMF was led by Travis Magnusson with a game-high 23 points and Trafton Teague with 10 points.
