1913 – 2004

CUMBERLAND FORESIDE – Alta A. Kaulakis, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 14, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, with whom she had been living for the past year, following a long illness.

Born in Lewiston, June 18, 1913, the daughter of Frank Apsega and Theophile Masys Apsega, she attended local schools.

She married Aldon P. Kaulakis on Oct. 12, 1946, and was married for 55 years, until his death in 2002. Following her marriage, she was a full-time mother and homemaker.

She was active in PTA and chaperoned many field trips. She went to work at King’s Department Store in Auburn and worked in the children’s department and service desk, until her retirement.

She was a member of the Lithuanian Daughters. She will be remembered for her love of family, of cooking and her talent as a seamstress. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Nadeau and her husband, Hector of Cumberland Foreside; two special sisters-in-law, Mildred Dumais of Auburn and Mildred Bansmer of Lewiston; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Apsega; a sister, Blanche Apsega; and a half-sister, Elizabeth Apsega.
