MINNEAPOLIS – Kevin Garnett had 32 points and 14 rebounds for his league-leading 47th double-double, and the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Phoenix Suns 110-95 on Tuesday night.

Fellow All-Star Sam Cassell had 22 points and 10 assists and Latrell Sprewell added 21 points for Minnesota, which has won three straight and improved to 23 games over .500 (38-15) for the first time in team history.

Amare Stoudemire scored 29 points and Joe Johnson added 25 for Phoenix, which has lost six straight games for the third time this season. Shawn Marion finished with 18 points, but shot just 6-for-21.

Minnesota’s Big Three, Garnett, Cassell and Sprewell dominated the first three quarters, but the reserves sparked the Wolves in the fourth. Fred Hoiberg opened the scoring with five straight points as Minnesota extended its lead to 83-74 with 11 minutes left in the game.

Hornets 89, Pacers 75

INDIANAPOLIS – Jamal Mashburn had 20 points, and Baron Davis added 19 points and eight assists to lead the New Orleans Hornets past the Indiana Pacers 89-75 Tuesday night.

Robert Traylor had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Hornets, who outrebounded the lackadaisical Pacers 56-38 and were the aggressors from the opening tip.

The Pacers tied a season low in shooting 33 percent from the floor, including 4-for-22 from 3-point range.

Bucks 127, Magic 104

MILWAUKEE – Michael Redd scored 27 points and the Milwaukee Bucks overcame Tracy McGrady’s big performance to defeat Orlando 127-104 Tuesday night in their highest-scoring game of the season.

McGrady scored 41 points in the Magic’s eighth straight loss.

Keith Van Horn, acquired by the Bucks on Sunday in a three-team trade, passed his physical before the game. But he didn’t play, and instead headed back to New York to take care of family matters.

Van Horn also miss the Bucks’ game at Detroit on Wednesday night. The Bucks got him in a deal that sent forward Tim Thomas to the Knicks and center Joel Przybilla to the Atlanta Hawks.

Knicks 92, Pistons 88

NEW YORK – Tim Thomas was a non-factor and Nazr Mohammed didn’t play. Stephon Marbury made sure that didn’t matter.

Marbury made a clutch 3-pointer with 40 seconds left and the Knicks – revamped again following the trade of Keith Van Horn and Michael Doleac – sent Detroit to its sixth consecutive loss, 92-88 Tuesday night.

Marbury finished with 28 points, nine assists and five steals, Penny Hardaway scored 17 and the Knicks outscored the Pistons 15-6 in the final 2:21 to snap a two-game losing streak.

Heat 97, Jazz 85

MIAMI – Rookie Dwyane Wade scored 31 points and the Miami Heat used a big run in the second quarter to beat the Utah Jazz 97-85 Tuesday night.

Rafer Alston and Rasual Butler each made a pair of 3-pointers as the Heat went on a 16-0 burst to take a 39-17 lead. The Jazz never got closer than three the rest of the way.

Wade shot 8-for-13 and made 14 of 17 free throws. Butler added a season-high 15 points in a reserve role and Brian Grant scored 12.

All-Star Andrei Kirilenko scored a career-high 31 points for Utah, which has lost six of its last eight.

Grizzlies 109, Mavs 92

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – James Posey had 19 points, Stromile Swift added 18 and the Memphis Grizzlies continued their dominance at home with a 109-92 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.

Memphis won its 20th home game – and six of its last seven – to tie the franchise record for home victories set last season. The Grizzlies moved nine games over .500 for the first time in franchise history and gave Hubie Brown his 400th win as an NBA coach.

Memphis opened the fourth quarter with a 9-2 run and extended its lead to 99-80 with six minutes left when Posey tipped in his own miss.

Rockets 107, Wizards 81

HOUSTON – Jim Jackson scored 17 points and Yao Ming had 16 and four blocked shots to lead the Houston Rockets to a 107-81 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

Kelvin Cato had 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Cuttino Mobley scored 12 for the Rockets. Steve Francis added 11 points and seven assists. Houston is 6-0 when Yao blocks four shots in a game this season.

Etan Thomas had 13 points to lead the Wizards, who lost for the ninth time in 10 trips to Houston. Washington hasn’t won in Houston since Dec. 6, 2001.

Bulls 75, Raptors 73

CHICAGO – Jamal Crawford had 25 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, and Eddy Curry added 15 points to lead the Chicago Bulls past the Toronto Raptors 75-73 Tuesday night.

Vince Carter had 21 points, and Donyell Marshall – involved in the blockbuster trade between the two teams on Dec. 1 – had 10 points and a career-high 24 rebounds for Toronto. However, the Raptors couldn’t overcome a 20-point second half deficit.

Toronto got the ball to Carter with five seconds left, but he was closely guarded by Eddie Robinson outside the 3-point line and failed to get a shot off. Robinson deflected the ball while Carter tried to dribble. Carter tried to get the ball back, but stepped out of bounds.

The Raptors got within four points, on Morris Peterson’s jumper with 5:05 left. However, Kirk Hinrich answered with back-to-back jumpers to extend Chicago’s lead to 75-67. Toronto scored the final six points, capped by Alvin Williams’ jumper with 32 seconds left.

Peterson had 19 points, including 4-for-4 shooting on 3-pointers for the Raptors.

Hinrich had 12 points for the Bulls, who led 46-33 at halftime.

Crawford scored 14 points and Curry 13 in the first half. Curry hit a 3-pointer as time ran out in the first quarter, giving the Bulls a 24-17. It was Curry’s first 3-point attempt of his career.

Toronto tied a franchise low by hitting just nine field goals in the half, shooting just 22 percent (9-for-41).

Marshall, whose rebounding total set a franchise record, had 13 of Toronto’s 25 first-half rebounds.

Chicago opened the second half by scoring the first seven points in the quarter. Jerome Williams’ basket stretched the Bulls’ lead to 53-33 with 10:41 left in the quarter, before Toronto answered with a 15-5 run.

Carter scored seven consecutive points in the run, and Marshall hit a 3-pointer to cut the Bulls’ lead to 58-48 with 3:40 left.

Notes: Despite a 16-38 record, Bulls head coach Scott Skiles has not lost hope of making the playoffs. “I just said it’s going take us playing at a level that’s better than any level then the Bulls have ever played at, way better than the past several years,” he said … The Bulls waived Jay Williams before the game, two weeks after reaching a contract buyout with the guard whose career is in jeopardy following a motorcycle accident. … Chicago is 2-0 against Toronto since the trade in which Chicago sent Jalen Rose and Marshall to Toronto for Williams, Antonio Davis and Chris Jeffries.
