BETHEL – An engineering review of a proposal to construct affordable hangars at the town airport tops the Wednesday, Feb. 18, meeting agenda of the Bethel Airport Authority.

Other discussion items at the 7 p.m. meeting in the town office include:

• A report on communications with American Skiing Co. regarding the possible purchase of land next to airport property and future leasing of the Gamm building.

• Fuel sales and installation of a ladder and catwalk for the fuel system.

At the authority’s Jan. 21 meeting, Peter Nesbeda, representing a group of local aircraft owners, presented the board with a proposal for affordable hangars.

During an overview of the proposed site plan and construction, he said the Quonset Hut and pilot’s lounge would need to be moved.

But authority members, who believed that ran counter to Bethel Regional Airport’s master plan, opted to send the proposal to engineering firm Dufresne-Henry for review.

The authority also sought engineering comments on space utilization, consistency with the master plan and Maine Department of Environmental Protection compliance.

The site plan proposal must also go before Bethel’s Planning Board for approval.
