BOSTON (AP) – Veteran radio talk show host David Brudnoy went on the air Wednesday on WBZ-AM radio for the first time since November, when he went on leave to undergo cancer treatment.

Brudnoy appeared as a guest during his regular 7 p.m. time slot, saying it was a “pleasure to be back.”

He also thanked all his listeners who have expressed concern and good wishes.

Brudnoy received several radiation treatments for Merkel cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, that causes a burning sensation in the throat. The treatments have affected his voice.

Brudnoy also has HIV, but he has said his cancer has nothing to do with the virus he has been living with for years.

The radio veteran also said he’s not giving up and does not want to continue living in hospitals.

No information was available for when Brudnoy would return to the airwaves full-time.
