RUMFORD – One of the goals set by the River Valley Arts Initiative – to find a place to display the work of local artists – will be met in April.

Lem Cissel, owner of Scrappers Domain, a scrapbook and artist supply store on Canal Street, said a gallery will open in a former jewelry store on 82 Congress St. He said he is pursuing nonprofit status so the gallery could be eligible for a variety of grants that could help build the arts in the community.

Although the name hasn’t been selected yet, he said it will likely contain “Pennacook,” the name of the Rumford Falls along the Androscoggin River. And, he said, the entrance will have the only revolving door in town.
