FARMINGTON – The Western Mountains Peace Action Workshop is inviting everyone who wishes to learn more about the Middle East to a showing of the film “Children of Abraham” at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, in Ricker Addition at the University of Maine at Farmington, located behind Mantor Library.

After the 40-minute video, a discussion will give viewers an opportunity to share their reactions and concerns.

In 1998, an American Jewish group dedicated to Jewish-Palestine reconciliation traveled to Israel to listen to individuals on both sides. “Children of Abraham” records their experiences.

The conversations move back and forth from Palestinians to Israelis. The film includes interviews with a PLO founding member, an Israeli farmer, a Hamas spiritual leader and an Israeli journalist.

Many speak of the mutual suffering and longing for peace, security and possibility of living like brothers together.

“Children of Abraham” does not include political analysis. There is no admission, but donations would be accepted.
