AUBURN – The Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will honor eight area high school seniors and their parents at a meeting at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at the Court Street Baptist Church.
The students are winners of the DAR Good Citizens Award and the DAR Good Citizenship Medal.
They have been chosen by their respective schools for outstanding citizenship, honesty, courage, service, leadership and patriotism.
The Good Citizens Award also requires participation in an essay contest, for which scholarships are presented on state and national levels. The DAR Good Citizen is chosen by the students and faculty of any public or private accredited school.
This year’s DAR Good Citizens are Leslie A. Workman, Buckfield Junior and Senior High School, daughter of Geoffrey and Sharon Workman of Buckfield; Alyson K. Keene, Edward Little High School, daughter of Eugene and Kathleen Keene of Auburn; Vanessa Fereshetian, Leavitt Area High School, daughter of Albert Fereshetian of Turner; and Nicole M. Willey, Lewiston High School, daughter of Bud and Jennifer Willey of Lewiston.
This year’s Good Citizenship Medal Award winners are Lyndsay Gammon, Buckfield Junior and Senior High School, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Gammon of Buckfield; Adam R. Platz, Edward Little High School, son of Thomas and Paula Platz of Auburn; Cassandra K. Kirkland, Leavitt Area High School, daughter of Allan and Kathryn Kirkland of Greene; and Tarrah A. Bowen, Lewiston High School, daughter of David and Renee Bowen of Lewiston.
