WILTON – Despite rumors that are flying around the Tri-County area, there have been no arrests in connection with the homicide of a Wilton contractor, an investigator said Thursday.
Raymond E. “Butch” Weed, 40, and the owner of New Horizon Builders, was found dead in the entryway of his 32 Main St. home on Dec. 23. by friends delivering Christmas gifts. Investigators have said it occurred between 5:30 and 7 p.m. that day.
State Police detective Mark Lopez says a team of between five to six investigators has been working the case each day, following leads and interviewing people throughout Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties.
Although it’s been nearly two months since Weed was shot dead, Lopez says investigators remain optimistic that the shooter will be found.
“We are always hopeful the next big break will be right around the corner,” he said Thursday.
