AUGUSTA – Maine Businesses for Social Responsibility presents Local Living Economies: How We Build A Sustainable Maine on March 2 at The Senator Inn in Augusta.
Michael Shuman of Community Ventures in Washington, D.C., will be featured at the program that runs from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
Participants will hear how global trends are expanding opportunities for local business in Maine and how a combination of initiatives in local planning, purchasing, investing, training, and policymaking undertaken by MEBSR members and others can help towns in Maine to seize these opportunities. The discussion will highlight current work to build the local economy of the Katahdin region.
This program will be offered in all eight MEBSR program regions across the state this spring, and will be expanded upon at the June conference in Kennebunkport. The program will be offered in Lewiston/Auburn May 11.
