1936 – 2004

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – Pauline Dutil Dube, RN, 67, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 20, surrounded by her family, after a six year battle with breast cancer.

She was born March 24, 1936, in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Dorothea McCarthy Dutil and Roland Dutil Sr. Her life was especially devoted to her family and to keeping the family together and close at all cost. She enjoyed spending time with the family, whenever possible, but especially around the Christmas holidays, birthdays and during summer time backyard gatherings and cookouts.

In her spare time, she loved to decorate, work in her flower garden, exercise in her pool, downhill ski with family, boat in the family Boston Whaler, and for many years go camping, tenting, fishing and waterskiing with the family at Moosehead Lake.

She is a graduate of Lewiston High School and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston. She spent most of her adult life in nursing except during the years when the children were born and until they started school. She worked as a staff nurse at hospitals in Lewiston and Portland, and did private duty nursing while the family lived in Maine.

Following the family’s move to the Burlington area in 1978, she worked at Birchwood Terrace Healthcare in various capacities from time to time until her retirement in January, 2002.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Dennis Sanders, Dr. Elizabeth Steiner and the staff at the Vermont Center for Cancer Medicine, Mary Loney, RN and the staff at VNA Hospice, Jen Moore, physical therapist at FAHC Outpatient Physical Therapy, and Dr. Philip Minton, Dr. Ferol Donaldson and the staff at Advanced Alternatives Cancer Center in Reno, Nev.
