On Jan. 23, Elm Street School had their first semi formal of the year.

The students in the junior high (seventh and eighth graders) voted in their homerooms on the theme. Students came up with great ideas, but in the end, the highest vote was for candy land.

The student council worked on decorations for about a week. They made trees with faces, cotton candy clouds, ice cream cones, and the colored board that would be set up around the gym.

The day of the semi, the student council entered the gym and put together all decorations. When they were all set up and everything was in the right place, the gymnasium looked wonderful.

At 7 P.M. students from Elm Street and some visitors from other schools arrived in their formal clothes with their tickets in hand. Parents and family friends took pictures for about a half of an hour. The D.J. shut the lights out and parents started exiting the gym.

The students danced, ate food from the concession stand, and had a great time. Even the chaperones joined in the fun. It was certainly a fantastic night.
