ORONO – Melissa Heon paved the way with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists as Maine rolled to a 66-48 victory over Northeastern at Alfond Arena Wednesday.

Monica Peterson chipped in with 10 points, and Missy Traversi added nine for the Black Bear (20-5, 15-0). Maine built a 34-19 advantage at halftime and continued to domainte the action in the second half.

Maine’s defense forced the Huskies to commit 28 turnovers.

Jody Burrows and Melissa Kowalski each netted 10 points for Northeastern (11-13, 5-10).

St. Joe’s 57, Newbury 41

STANDISH – Abbie Rice recorded 18 points and 13 rebounds as St. Joseph’s College defeated Newbury College 57-41 Wednesday evening.

Morgan Brownlee added 11 points, while Laura Pelkey chipped in with nine points for the Monks (13-12) win as well.

The Newbury College (10-14) effort was paced by Shanisha Mitchell with 18 points.
